Hawks Sweep Weekend With 2-0 Win Over Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY, MO. –  The Quincy University women's soccer team used two first half goals to defeat Rockhurst University on Saturday afternoon (April 3). Maddie Bauer scored right before the 11-minute mark, then Riley Hayes scored in the 35th minute to give QU two first half goals. Quincy's defense allowed just one shot on goal all game in the shutout victory. 

The Hawks imposed their will early on as they got two shots off in under ten minutes. The third shot was the charm as Maddie Bauer scored her second goal of the season at the 10:40 mark. Her goal was assisted by Lauren Crane

Quincy continued to pressure the Rockhurst defense with two more shots over the next twenty minutes. In the 35th minute, Riley Hayes notched her second goal of the year as well after a pass in by freshman Grace Ledbetter. QU went up 2-0.

Rockhurst sent two shots in the final ten minutes, but neither were on goal. 

The visiting Hawks controlled the tempo in the final forty-five as both teams combined for five total shots. Rockhurst's only shot on goal came in the 48th minute, but Emilee Autry was there to make the save. 

QU went on to win 2-0, and moved to 6-3-2 on the year. The Hawks currently sit in 5th place in the GLVC standings with three regular season games to go. 

Next Game
The Lady Hawks will be back in action on April 9th when they take on Southwest Baptist inside Legends Stadium at 5:00 p.m.
