QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University baseball team concluded its series with Rockhurst University on Sunday afternoon (Apr. 25) as the Hawks fell in the finale, 7-4.
The Hawks scored first after Jacob Kalusniak hit a solo bomb to left in the bottom of the third. Rockhurst responded in the top of the fifth with a home run, a RBI double, a RBI single, and a RBI walk to make it 4-1.
Quincy went back on the attack and led off the bottom of the inning with a single from Joe Roscetti. This was followed by a hit by pitch to Cole Evans and a RBI double down the right field line by Brock Boynton. QU trailed 4-2.
Rockhurst made their way to the plate in the next inning and got a double and a RBI hit to move the score to 5-2.
QU scratched a couple more across in the bottom of the seventh as Boynton walked, Luke Napleton got hit by pitch, and Dayson Croes hit a deep fly ball to center field allowing Boynton to move to third. Lance Logsdon followed up with a RBI single to make it 5-3, and Michael Nielsen hit another single to load the bases. Nolan Wosman then hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring QU within one run, 5-4.
Rockhurst scored two more times in the top of the ninth after a wild pitch and a RBI single to left field. This extended their lead to the final score of 7-4.
