William Jewell kept things going in the top of the second and hit a two-run home run followed by an RBI double, an RBI single, and a two-RBI double to extend their lead to a whopping 9-2 score. Joe Roscetti opened the bottom of the inning with a solo home run for the Hawks to give the Hawks a little bit of life back.
After a shut down top of the third, Quincy once again came out strong with the bats as Dayson Croes led off with a double down the left-field line. He was later brought to the plate by an RBI single from Nielsen, 9-4.
The Hawks again for the fourth consecutive time attacked in the bottom of the fourth when Cole Evans and Jacob Kalusniak opened up with a single each and then were followed by a three-run bomb to center field by Dayson Croes. This cut the Cardinal lead to 9-7.
Quincy started things again in the bottom of the fifth when Gino D'Alessio hit a double to the right field wall. He was sent to home plate after Roscetti hit a ball to the right center gap for the second double in the inning and made it 9-8. The Cardinals changed pitchers to face Cole Evans, but after taking a quick look at the scouting report proceeded to hit a nuke over the center field fence to give QU a 10-9 lead.
Kalusniak brought one more in for the Hawks in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single to right for Quincy's ninth unanswered run to make it 11-9. The Cardinals weren't done yet and tied the game right after in the top of the eighth behind an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. The score was notched, 11-11.
The Hawks came back in the bottom of the eighth and scored one after a hit-by-pitch to D'Alessio with the bases loaded and no outs while Roscetti and Boynton brought one each with sacrifice flies to extend the QU lead to 14-11.
