QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University baseball team won the series finale 14-13 on Sunday afternoon. Dayson Croes led QU with a 5-5 performance that included two doubles and two triples. 

Davenport stuck first with three runs in the first to make the score 3-0. Croes doubled and Nolan Wosman singled to drive in Croes. Logsdon singled and later scored and the Hawks tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the first. 

Davenport knocked a three run homerun in the top of the second to take a 6-3 lead. Jacob Kalusniak hit a homerun then Wosman and Justin Eads each had RBI singles to tie the game at 6-6 after two innings of play. 

In the third, Eric Tipton doubled and scored then Croes roped a double to make the score 8-6 in favor of QU. Michael Nielsen smashed a two-run homerun in the fourth to extend QU's lead to three runs at 10-7 in the fourth. 

Croes singled to knock in Kalusniak and another run scored on a groundout by Wosman to make the score 12-7 in the fifth inning. 

DU's Nolan Anspaugh hit a homerun to left center field to cut within 12-8 in the sixth inning. After scoring runs in the first five frames, the Hawks were held scoreless in the sixth. Ben Mets made it a two run game at 12-10 in the seventh inning. 

Quincy added to its lead in the seventh behind a Dayson Croes RBI triple. He later scored on a sacrifice fly foul ball, and QU led 14-10 after the seventh. 

The Panthers made things interesting in the ninth inning scoring two runs, but Dalton Overstreet was able to record the final three outs and earn the save. 

91 runs were scored during the four-game series between the Hawks and Panthers. The Hawks hit 14 home runs in the series.
