ROLLA, MO – The Quincy University baseball team finished off game three of the weekend on Sunday after it was called off due to weather on Saturday. The Hawks exploded for a 21-14 win then, QU topped the Miners 13-5 in the series finale to salvage a series split.
Game 3 (Resumed)
Game three was resumed in the fifth when the Hawks controlled at 14-5 lead. Missouri S&T scored four runs in the sixth inning, but QU responded with seven runs in the top of the seventh.
Lance Logsdon smashed a grand slam to highlight the crooked inning for QU. The Miners scored five runs in the seventh and final inning, but
Alex Aubuchon came in to record the final two outs while not surrendering any earned runs.
Game 4
Quincy got on the board first in the final game of the series when
Jacob Kalusniak walked then came around to score after
Michael Nielsen was issued a free pass with the bases loaded. Quincy led 1-0 after the first, and exploded for four hits and four runs in the second to command an early 5-0 lead.
Dayson Croes had a RBI double,
Lance Logsdon had a RBI single, and
Michael Nielsen had a RBI sacrifice fly in the frame.
Freshman right-hander
Kobe Essien tossed five scoreless innings while he recorded nine strikeouts and surrounded just one hit on the bump.
Jacob Kalusniak led off the fourth with a homerun, and then
Lance Logsdon doubled to drive in
Dayson Croes later in the inning to make the lead 7-0 for QU. In the next inning,
Dayson Croes left the yard with a two-out, two-run homerun, and QU controlled a 9-0 lead after five innings.
The Miners eventually scratched two runs across in the sixth on a two-run homerun, but then the next three batters were retired thereafter.
In the seventh,
Brock Boynton led off with a walk and came around to score to make the score 10-2 in favor of QU. Quincy added two more runs on back-to-back RBI hits from
Nolan Wosman and Logsdon in the eighth inning. The Miners responded with back-to-back two-out RBI knocks in the next half inning and trailed 13-4. The Miners added one more in the ninth on two hits, but the QU lead was too large for the Miners to handle.

The Hawks will return home to face Truman State on April 1st at 3:00 p.m. The Series will run from Thursday to Saturday with the Easter holiday this coming Sunday.
