QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's volleyball team dropped the series finale with #15 Ball State University in straight sets, 25-17, 25-21, 25-19 on Saturday evening (March 20).
A slow start hindered the Hawks in set one, as Ball State attacked at a gaudy .625 percentage. The Cardinals took advantage of their hot hand by taking set one, 25-17.
Through the first twelve points of set two, QU tied the contest after an 
Omari Wheeler right side strike, 6-6. The first lead for the Hawks came at 17-16, as a 
Michael Ladner service ace struck the back line. Ball State came right back and closed the set out by scoring six of the final eight points to take set two, 25-21. 
 
In the final set, QU battled hung with the Cardinals for a majority of the set. Ball State was able to gain a 20-14 lead, but Quincy rallied off four straight points, two of which came on kills by Wheeler to cut into the Cardinals lead at 20-18. Ball State clapped right back and scored five of the final six points, taking down the Hawks 25-19.
