Men's Soccer Plays Lewis to a 2-2 Draw

Quincy, Ill - The Quincy University men's soccer team returned home to face Lewis University at Legends Stadium on Friday night (Mar. 19). After a tense 110 minutes of game action and two goals by Aubrey Reis, the Hawks ended in a 2-2 with the Flyers.

Quincy started the match strong after sending two shots in only three minutes played but both missed the mark. Neither side was able to notch a goal, and Christos Kalaitzis made two saves in the first half which allowed the Hawks to keep the game scoreless going into halftime. 

In the second half, things started to heat up as Lewis scored the first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead. Only two minutes after at the 62:09 mark, the Hawks got a prime opportunity after a handball by Lewis in their own box. This play turned into a goal by Aubrey Reis to tie the game 1-1.

Less than a minute later, Aubrey Reis did it again and scored the second goal for the Hawks after he was assisted by Cole Hayes to make it 2-1. With ten minutes to go, Lewis snuck in the game-tying goal, and both teams went to overtime.

The game went the distance as no other goals were scored. The Hawks had two attempted shots in the first overtime and one in the final extra period as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
