KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Quincy University women's volleyball team prevailed in four sets over the Truman State Bulldogs for the second time in a week at Kirksville on Friday (Feb. 5). QU won by scores of 25-21, 25-19, 20-25, 25-22 behind a combined 42 kills from 
Emily Rehagen and 
Mattie Norris. 
 
Sophomore Emily Rehagen continued to lead the Hawks offensively. Rehagen was coming off the heels of a performance where she garnered GLVC Offensive Player of the Week honors, and led the Hawks with 22 kills in the match. Junior Mattie Norris complimented Rehagen on the opposite pin as she added 20 kills, and the duo combined for 42 of the Hawks 65 kills during the contest. Norris had 44 total attempts and just two errors on her way to an impressive .409 hitting percentage. 
All-Conference setter Makayla Knoblauch directed the attack with 40 assists and added 16 digs during the match. Libero Sarah Blair added an impressive 21 digs along with two service aces. 
Coming into tonight's contest, seven Great Lakes Valley Conference teams were receiving national attention. The Bulldogs and Hawks were both receiving votes in the most recent AVCA media poll. 
1st Set 
Neither team was able to break through in the first set until an Emily Rehagen kill gave the Hawks a 16-15 lead. Emma Holt followed with a service ace which sparked a four-point run giving the Hawks their biggest lead of the set at 20-15. TSU fought back, drawing within two at 21-19, but after a QU timeout, it was all Hawks taking four of the next six points to close the first set, 25-21. 
2nd Set
The second set started out in similar fashion to the first with the Hawks holding a slim 10-9 lead.  A kill by Emily Rehagen fueled a three-point swing by the Hawks giving them a 13-9 advantage. QU would take five of the next eight points opening a six point edge, one they would go on to hold taking the second set 25-19. 
3rd Set
QU came out firing in the third set taking a 6-2 lead capped by an ace from Sarah Blair. TSU responded by tying the set 9-9. Both teams took turns exchanging points until an ace from the Bulldogs opened a three point TSU advantage at 18-15. The Bulldogs strong hitting percentage of .292 in the third set helped lift them to a 25-20 set three win.
4th Set
Truman State looked poised to mount a comeback with a strong start to the fourth set on the heels of two separate three-point runs to give them a 9-6 advantage. The strong play from the Bulldogs continued as they held off the QU offense and gained a 17-13 lead later in the set. The Hawks came roaring back with three straight kills from Mattie Norris to bring the game within one point at 18-17. The set would come to a tie at 19 apiece, but a four-point Quincy run, started after a kill by Alyssa Grimm and three consecutive attacking errors by TSU, proved to be the deciding factor in the Hawks 25-22 final set victory.

Next Game
Quincy will have its toughest test of the young season as they travel to #18 Missouri-St. Louis tomorrow (Feb. 5) for a 3:00 p.m. GLVC showdown. The Tritons were picked to win the central division in the GLVC preseason poll.
