QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University Athletic Department found its new leader today (Feb. 5). President Brian McGee announced that head baseball coach,
Josh Rabe, will immediately serve as Associate Athletic Director and serve alongside Interim Athletic Director,
Phil Conover, until June 1st, 2021.
After that date, Rabe will become the permanent Director of Intercollegiate Athletics for Quincy University.
At today's press conference the long-time head baseball coach also announced that this spring will be his last season coaching the Hawks. Rabe has been at the helm of the baseball program for eleven years and enters his final year of coaching with 319 wins, the most in program history.
Under Rabe's leadership, the QU baseball team has won four GLVC championships and appeared in the NCAA tournament six times. In 2017, QU baseball prevailed as the Midwest Region Champion and appeared in the NCAA Division II World Series. Rabe was the 2015 GLVC Coach of the Year and the 2017 Region Coach of the Year. He has coached 58 All-Conference players, 24 All-Region players, and six All-American players. In addition, 11 players have signed professional baseball contracts during Rabe's tenure as the head baseball coach at Quincy.
"The bottom line is that we will succeed in the classroom and in competition. We will work hard, play by the rules, and treat others with dignity and respect. And we always will live out our Franciscan values," said Rabe after being named the next Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Rabe is the fourth full-time Athletic Director for QU in the last 45 years.
