QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's basketball team is set to host three other teams at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home Classic on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 19 & 20) inside Pepsi Arena.
The weekend slate will feature Ferris State, Winona State, and McKendree.
The first game of the tournament is set to start at 5:00 PM on Friday night and will feature GLVC-member McKendree as they take on Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) opponent Winona State. Last season, the Bearcats finished 8-13 in the conference-only season, and Winona State finished the year 5-7 in a COVID-shortened campaign.
QU will then play the nightcap when they take on Ferris State at 7:00 PM. The Bulldogs went 6-13 last season and finished 4th out of six teams in the GLIAC North Division.
On Saturday, Ferris and McKendree will square off at 2:00 PM followed by the Hawks and Winona State at 4:00 PM.
The Hawks dropped their first two games of the season last weekend at Pepper Pike, Ohio after a 95-57 defeat at the hands of Ursuline College, and QU then dropped a nail-biter, 59-57, to Wisconsin Parkside on Saturday. The last time QU hosted crossover action in Pepsi Arena was in the 2019-20 season when Upper Iowa, Maryville, and Winona competed in the event. The Hawks won their first matchup of the weekend against Upper Iowa, 58-47, then fell to the Warriors, 73-63, in overtime.
