PEPPER PIKE, OH. - The QU women's basketball fell 59-57 against Wisconsin Parkside on Saturday (Nov 13) afternoon. QU cut the score to two points with 1:06 left but missed a jump shot with six seconds to go, and UWP held on for the win.
Beth Matas Martin led the team with 14 points while adding three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Grace Flannagan had 11 points for QU while
Sarah Nelson added 10 points and led the team with seven boards. Other Hawks
Marta Rivera scored nine points, and
Dami Adeyinka added seven points. QU shot 43.1% from the field.
Emma Knipe filled out the stat sheet with four rebounds, three assists, and two steals but fouled out after 23 minutes of action.
It was a closely contested game, and the largest Rangers lead was just four points with 1:31 left in the fourth.
QU controlled the lead for nearly three quarters of the game, but they were outscored 21-13 in the third quarter after going on a 23-13 run during the second quarter.
Quincy led 34-22 with 9:48 left in the third and had a 53-52 advantage with 3:07 left in the fourth. The Rangers regained the lead with 2:57 left, and QU never was able to regain the advantage.
The Hawks only made one of their final eight attempts from downtown despite holding UWP scoreless over the final 91 seconds of the game. Quincy fell by a final score of 59-57.
