ROLLA, MO. - The Quincy University men's basketball team got career-high performances from guards,
Charles Callier & Jamurie Coakley Saturday afternoon (Dec. 9). The efforts would be enough to secure a road win over the Missouri S&T Miners by a score of 81-72.
The Hawks had an offensive burst as two players finished with career-highs. Senior guard
Charles Callier scored 23 points on 7-10 field goals and 4-6 from behind the arch. While Junior guard
Jamaurie Coakley had 21 points on 8-13 shooting, going 2-3 from distance.
Two other QU players finished in double digits, as
Silas Crisler had 13 points on 3-4 shooting from three.
Viktor Kovacevic nearly missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Entering the under eight media timeout, the Hawks carried a nine point 29-20 lead behind Junior
Silas Crislers three made triples.
Closing the half on a 8-1 run over the final two minutes. A Kovacevic slam assisted by
Jamaurie Coakley was the exclamation point, as QU led 41-27 at the break.
The Hawks first half burst came at 57.1 percent shooting on 16-28 field goals, and 7-15 from distance. Cirsler and Callier both knocked down three triples a piece.
In the second half QU continued its offensive showcase leading by as many as 21 points stretching the score to 68-47. The Miners would make a late push, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
The Hawks finished the game shooting 53.6 percent on 30-56 field goals and 43.5 percent from three.
Quincy bounced back with an all around team performance to secure a 81-72 road win.
