QUINCY, Ill. – The QU Hawks men's volleyball team hosted Augustana College (IL) on Sunday afternoon (Jan 24.) and won both matches in the double header 3-0 and 3-1, respectively. Michael Ladner and Omari Wheeler led the way for QU in the first match. Ladner had 12 kills and Wheeler had 11, while Zach Reider added five kills from the middle. Andrea Miotto cracked his way into the starting rotation, and produced six blocks causing havoc on the Augustana attack.
Ladner also had three service aces as the Hawks dominated the first game of the twinbill, 25-17, 25-15, 25-16.
The Hawks had 38 kills during game one and hit .459 as a team, an incredibly efficient clip. QU only committed four errors on 74 total attacks during the opening match of the double header against the Vikings. The Vikings only hit .055 as a team during the first game.
Other notable first match stats include libero, Noam Hannoun, who contributed eight digs, and Yoran Raymaekers led the offense with 30 assists.
In the second match, fourth year head coach, Gavin Mueller, mixed up the rotation.
The Hawks took the first set 25-23, but the Vikings responded with a 25-23 victory in set number two to tie the match.
