QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's volleyball team got their third straight sweep in as many games they've played in this season with a 25-15, 30-28, 25-15 win over Culver-Stockton.
Omari Wheeler and
Michael Ladner led the attack while
Noam Hannoun was the main defensive contributor.
It was all business for QU in the first set. Quincy soared ahead early 11-4 behind five kills from four different Hawks. This fast start was all the home team needed to take set one by a final tally of 25-15.
The second set was much more competitive. The Wildcats stuck right with the Hawks wire-to-wire. Culver and Quincy collected the same amount of kills (14) in the set on almost the same amount of attempts (36 attempts by Culver, 35 attempts by QU). The difference was that the visitors committed a few more errors than the Hawks in the set, as Quincy held on 30-28 in a marathon set.
Wheeler had seven kills in the set while
Andrea Miotto contributed three kills with three block assists after getting the start in the second set.
Quincy finished things off in set three. The Hawks jumped in front 6-2, but Culver showed some life after later tying the score 7-7.
The Hawks came right back by scoring the next seven of eight points to gain a 15-8 lead. This was all the cushion that QU needed to seal the deal on their way to a 25-15 set three win.
