KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Quincy University women's tennis team went into Truman State and defeated the Bulldogs 5-2 in their first action against an outside opponent this fall.
QU's number one on the women's side,
Laila Leist-Alston went undefeated on the day with a 6-0, 6-2 win in singles. She also won her doubles pairing with
Makaela Hampton 6-4.
Three other athletes came out victorious in singles matchups on Sunday.
Nicole Lao won 6-4, 6-2, and
Makaela Hampton went undefeated on the day with a 6-2, 6-3 win in her singles match.
Noni Updyke, a senior from Worden, Illinois rounded out the winning efforts on the singles side with a 6-1, 7-5 victory in the number four spot.
Updyke and Lao combined for a doubles win 7-6 (8-6), while
Alexia Ginter and
Kori Kay Obert won 6-4 to complete the doubles sweep of the Bulldogs.
The final matchup of the fall for the women's team will be on October 4th at Resevoir Park against McKendree University at 9:00 AM.
