Hawks Come Up Short Against Felician

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Quincy University men's lacrosse team traveled north on Sunday (Mar. 8) for a neutral-site matchup with Felician University. The Hawks grabbed an early lead in the first quarter, but the Golden Falcons offense came alive down the stretch as QU fell by a final score of 11-6.

How It Happened
1st Half
Quincy jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first fifteen minutes. Andrew Borror and Lane Chapman each found pay dirt to get the Hawks on the board.

Freshman goalie Ian Speth made his first career start and was lights out in the opening period, saving all four shots Felician put on goal.

The momentum shifted to start the second quarter. The Golden Falcons went on a 5-0 run over a span of 11 minutes to take the lead.

Preston Willman found Borror for his second goal of the game with 2:47 remaining in the quarter to halt Felician's run, but the Golden Falcons added one more before the half.

QU trailed 6-3 heading into the locker room.

2nd Half
The Hawks pulled back within two before the end of the third quarter. Neal Dardis and Se'Maj Buchanan tallied back-to-back goals in under a minute.

After Dardis netted his goal, Buchanan won the next face-off and streaked right down the field and beat the Golden Falcon defense.

Quincy trailed 7-5 heading into the final fifteen minutes of play. Ian Speth made five more huge saves in the quarter to keep QU within striking distance.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, Felician found some rhythm in the fourth quarter as they went on to win by a score of 11-6.
