QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's basketball team hosted Lindenwood University on Saturday (Feb. 8) afternoon at Pepsi Arena. The Hawks cut an 18-point deficit to just two in the second half but could not complete the comeback, falling 74-64.
How It Happened
The Lions, who made the trek up Highway 61, opened up the contest on a 19-4 run.
The Hawks shot 29.6% in the first half and only converted on two 3-point shots on 10 attempts as they trailed 34-21 at the break.
Lindenwood kept pace in the second half and led by 16 points at 52-36 after a Vijay Blackmon jump shot with 9:41 left in the game.
The Hawks went on a 14-2 run which started on a
Tanner Stuckman 3-pointer with 6:23 left in the second half.
Charles Callier capped off the run with a 3-pointer from the top of the key to pull the Hawks within two points at 59-57 with 3:19 to play.
Luka Radosevic answered with a 3-point play of his own and the Lions answered with an 8-0 run to conceal the victory and break their 10-game losing streak.
Charles Callier had another impressive offensive showing, leading QU with 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field.
Stuckman had 14 points and Aziz Fadika also notched double figures for the Hawks.
The Lions scored 22 points off 14 turnovers by the Hawks.
TJ Crockett led the Lions with 24 points, notching a perfect 16-of-16 from the foul line while playing all 40 minutes on the afternoon.
