Hawks Downed By Greyhounds On The Road

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –  The Quincy University men's basketball team battled the Indianapolis Greyhounds on Thursday night (Feb. 13). Quincy got twenty-five points from leading scorer, Tanner Stuckman, but faltered down the stretch as the Greyhounds won 77-60.

How It Happened
Quincy fell behind in the early going after Indianapolis' Jimmy King scored the first three baskets for the Greyhounds. Indianapolis led 7-3 after two minutes.

The Hawks later fell behind 12-6, but came alive with an 8-2 run to tie the game. Tanner Stuckman, Viktor Kovacevic, and Aziz Fadika all had buckets during the run.

Indianapolis came right back at QU by scoring the next four-of-five baskets, all within the three-point line. This allowed UIndy to take a 22-16 lead.

At the eight-minute mark, Justin Warren drained a jumper to bring QU within four points, but the Greyhounds kept the momentum on their side when they scored the next three baskets. This burst gave UIndy the first double-digit lead of the game, 28-18, with 5:13 left in the first half.

In the final four minutes, offense for both sides came to a halt. Aziz Fadika knocked in two free throws with 4:13 left, but neither team got another basket for the remainder of the first half. Indianapolis held a 31-23 lead going into the break.

Quincy came out of the locker room with urgency following halftime. The Hawks were able to cut their deficit to three points in the opening three and a half minutes.

Charles Callier hit a three, Fadika laid in a basket, and Tanner Stuckman got to the line for two free throws which made the score 33-30 UIndy.

At the fifteen-minute mark, Viktor Kovacevic made it a two-point game with a deep three to make the score 35-33.

Shortly after, Tanner Stuckman gave QU their first lead with a three-pointer that made the score 36-35. The lead did not last long as the Greyhounds responded.

The Greyhounds scored five points in the next two possessions to go back in front 40-36.

Quincy kept things close over the next five minutes. The Greyhound lead never went into double figures until 6:13 remained in the contest.

Indianapolis used a 9-2 run to extend a five-point lead to a twelve-point lead. The Hawks trailed 64-52 with six minutes to play.

Stuckman hit another three-pointer to cut the UIndy lead back to single digits, 64-55.

After this point, the Greyhounds pulled away. Indianapolis closed out the game on a 13-5 run to seal the game.
