Laney Lantz had a career-high 30 points on Saturday (Feb.1) afternoon to lead Quincy to a 95-75 win over Rockhurst in GLVC play.
How It Happened
The Hawks first bucket of the afternoon came on a 3-pointer from Lantz with 7:10 left in the first quarter. Lantz continued to be effective the rest of the game making five 3-pointers on six tries.
Quincy shot 23% (3-13) in the opening quarter, but led 14-11 after going 7-for-9 at the foul stripe at the end of the first quarter.
Rockhurst and Quincy picked up the pace in the second quarter, as QU outscored Rockhurst 21-20 in the quarter and led 35-31 at the half. Quincy shot 7-for-14 (50%) from the field in the 2nd quarter and started to build momentum.
Quincy led 50-46 with 2 minutes and 59 seconds left in the third but ended the frame on a 15-5 run to break the game wide open. QU scored 30 points on 9-of-11 shooting, being a perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point range in the 3rd quarter.
Quincy had a healthy stroke from the foul line on the afternoon making 25-of-30 (83%) shots.
QU continued the firepower on offense in the 4th quarter, scoring another 30 points as QU outscored Rockhurst 60-44 in the second half.
Kennedy Prince gave the Hawks a surge off the bench, scoring 17 points in just 13 minutes of play.
Quincy's ability to get out in transition was evident by their 16 fast break points and 30 points that came off of turnovers.
Lantz played 29 minutes in her career day, making 10-of-13 shots from the field while also grabbing three rebounds.
After dominating the final two quarters, the Hawks earned their third GLVC win of the season, 95-75.
