Quincy Drops GLVC Road Matchup With Southern Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Quincy University men's basketball team finished the road weekend at the University of Southern Indiana Saturday afternoon (Jan. 25). The Hawks were unable to knock off the Screaming Eagles, falling 84-67.

How It Happened
1st Half
Aziz Fadika and Tanner Stuckman started things off on Saturday with the opening two buckets of the game. 
 
After the Hawks opened on a 4-0 run, Southern Indiana tied the score at 6-6 with 18:02 to play. Following the tie, Charles Callier knocked down a three-pointer to give QU a brief lead. 
 
The Screaming Eagles came right back by scoring eight unanswered points to charge ahead 16-9 after five minutes into the game. 
 
Adam Moore knocked down a shot from beyond the arc with 12:09 to play to bring the Hawks within five points. USI led 21-16. 
 
At the ten-minute mark, Viktor Kovacevic hit a corner three to keep the deficit at five with a 24-19 score. 
 
Southern Indiana went on a 10-2 run in the next two minutes to gain a double-digit lead. With 7:10 in the first half, the Hawks trailed 34-21. 
 
Quincy's offense struggled against USI's zone defense just before the half. The Hawks managed just two field goals in the last six minutes. 
 
The Hawks trailed 46-27 at the break. 
 
2nd Half
The Hawks looked to make a run in the second half when Austin Downing nailed two three-pointers in the first two minutes, cutting the USI lead to 48-34.
 
The Screaming Eagles proceeded to go on a 16-6 run to extend their lead to 64-40.
 
QU cut the deficit to seventeen with 6:08 remaining after Downing found Charles Callier for another three-pointer.
 
Quincy pulled within 14 with just over three minutes left. Ryan Briscoe found Aziz Fadika for a layup to make the score 76-62 USI.
 
That is as close as the Hawks would get, as the Screaming Eagles went on to win 84-67.
