Hawks Unable To Slow Bearcats To Start Road Slate

LEBANON, Ill. – Quincy may have came in as the second-ranked scoring offense in the GLVC on Thursday night (Jan. 24), but the home McKendree Bearcats took advantage of home court with an impressive 95-73 win.

How It Happened
1st Half
Foul trouble affected the game from the beginning on Thursday night. Leading QU scorer Tanner Stuckman picked up two fouls in the first minute and eight seconds forcing other players to see increased playing time in the first half.

In the first twenty minutes, the Bearcats were more than efficient. McKendree made 70% of their first half shots (17-24), 57% of their three-point chances (4-7), and went a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line.

The Hawks hung right with the hot-shooting Bearcats in the first ten minutes. Ryan Briscoe hit a three-pointer with 12:03 left in the opening half to give QU a 14-13 lead.

This would be QU's last lead in the remaining twelve minutes as the Bearcats continued to hit shots. In the final 4:27 of the first half, McKendree went on a 16-6 run before both teams went to the locker room. The Hawks trailed 48-35.

2nd Half
MU used more of the same formula in the final twenty minutes.

The Bearcats cooled off a bit from the first half, but still made 51.5% of their shot attempts in the next half.

A 10-3 run by McKendree in the first 2:39 set the tone and increased their lead to 58-38 with 17:21 remaining.

Quincy was unable to get within fifteen points in the last fifteen minutes as the Bearcats went on to cruise to a 95-73 victory.
