Play by Play
1st Half
The Hawks looked to avenge their 2-1 loss to the Greyhounds a season ago on a warm Sunday afternoon at
Jack Mackenzie Field. It took less than ten minutes for the Quincy attack to get on the board.
In the 9th minute,
Cooper Reis sent a corner kick in the box where
Aubrey Reis got the first touch. The redshirt junior headed the cross into the net for his fourth goal of the season. QU led 1-0.
The Greyhounds caught a break just two minutes after the first Quincy goal. Indianapolis was awarded a penalty kick after a foul inside the box. UIndy converted the PK try to tie the game in the 11th minute 1-1.
Quincy's attack was persistent in the middle part of the first half. In the 29th minute,
Ty Rogers had possession inside the 18-yard box and sent a cross near the net.
Aubrey Reis and his knack for the ball paid off as he put the pass into the net for his second goal of the game. QU went back ahead 2-1.
The remaining 15 minutes of the half were relatively quiet as both teams combined for just three shots. Quincy led 2-1 at the break.
2nd Half
In the second half, the Greyhounds came out with more offensive pressure.
Adam Whybrow was forced to make just one save in the first half, but he fended off more than that in the last forty-five minutes of play.
Indianapolis ripped three shots in the first six minutes following halftime. Whybrow made a diving save in the 51st minute of the game to keep the Hawks in the lead.
Whybrow again was tested in the 56th and 58th minute after he had to make two saves on UIndy shots on goal. The reigning National Defensive Player of the Week stopped a penalty kick in the 56th minute to keep the game tied.
In the 64th minute, Whybrow once again came up with a save for the Hawks leaving the score at 2-1.
After the Greyhounds attacked QU's back line for most of the second half, Quincy's offense delivered the final blow.
Alsadiq Hasan scored after a long entry pass by
Macker Little. Hasan snuck behind a UIndy defender after corralling Little's long pass for his third goal of the season. QU led 3-1.
Indianapolis was able to get off two shots in the final ten minutes but one missed high and the other missed wide. Quincy held on for their third consecutive win 3-1.
