FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Quincy University men's volleyball team lost in straight sets to No. 13 Purdue Fort Wayne in Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play on Monday (Mar. 4) night. The Hawks fell to the Mastodons 25-14, 25-17, 25-18.

1stSet
The Hawks fell behind early in the opening set after the Mastodons recorded service aces on four of the first 9 points. This forced QU to take a timeout down 7-2.
QU scored the next two points out of the timeout to cut the lead to 7-4. The Mastodons would answer with a 5-0 run to extend the lead to 12-4.
Blake Sprecher and
Brendon Estrada slammed home back-to-back kills to make the score 15-10.
The Hawks could not draw any closer as Fort Wayne scored ten of the last 14 points to take the opening set 25-14.
2ndSet
The Mastodons would jump out to an early lead in the second set before the Hawks used two kills by
Omari Wheeler and
Ben Rachilla to cut the lead to 7-5.
Both teams would go back and forth until Fort Wayne used four straight points to take a 20-11 lead.
The Hawks fought back with a service ace by
Adam Rogan to make the score 21-15.
The Mastodons were able to maintain this lead and took the second set 25-17.
3rdSet
The Hawks were determined to send the match to a fourth set after back-to-back kills by Sprecher and Estrada gave the Hawks a 7-6 lead.
Neither team was able to break away as the score sat tied at 14-14 midway through the third set.
Fort Wayne would then score six of the next 8 points to take a 20-16 lead. The deficit was too much for the Hawks to overcome as the Mastodons defeated QU 25-18 in the third set.
The Mastodons tallied 11 service aces and hit .342 in the 3-0 win.
