QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University softball team tallied 19 runs on 30 hits in a non-conference sweep of Lincoln University Wednesday afternoon (Mar. 27). The Hawks defeated the Blue Tigers 10-3 in game one and senior
Morgan Heckman drove in six runs during a 9-1 game two victory.

Game 1
Both teams were silent in the first two innings.
Sara Demuth was able to keep the Blue Tigers off balance, allowing only two hits through two.
Lincoln was the first strike. The Blue Tigers took a 3-0 lead after scoring three runs on three hits and two QU errors in the top of the third.
Those are all the runs the visiting team could push across as the combination of Demuth and
Alex DeVaney kept Lincoln scoreless for the remainder of the game.
The Hawks responded quickly, scoring six runs on seven hits in the bottom of the frame.
Megan Sharpshair reached base on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a
Courtney Kernich bunting single.
Heckman plated both runners with a 2 RBI triple off the center field fence, making the score 3-2.
Kay Bettendorf tied the game at 3-3 with an RBI single through the left side. The hits kept coming as
Remi Ferguson and
Kylie Powers hit back-to-back home runs to give the Hawks a 6-3 lead.
QU added four more in the fourth inning with RBI singles by
Kylie Powers, Bettendorf, and Heckman. The Hawks took a 10-3 lead.
That score would stand as Quincy took game one.
Game 2
The Hawks continued to swing the bats in the second game of the day with four of their seven hits being in home run fashion.
QU jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first two innings.
Heckman gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run blast to center field.
Audrey Hermann led off the bottom of the third with a single to left field and scored on an RBI single by
Megan Sharpshair. Heckman stayed hot as she plated Sharpshair with an RBI double to left center field, giving QU a 4-0 lead.
Quincy used a walk and a single followed by a three-run home run off the bat of
Morgan Heckman to take a commanding 7-0 lead. It was Heckman's second homer of the day and her 6th on the season.
Mac Kenzie Collier saw her only blemish of the day after a home run by the Blue Tigers in the fifth inning. Lincoln cut the lead to 7-1.
Powers led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo shot to center field, making the score 8-1.
Dana Walsh came to the plate with two outs and hit a walk-off home run to end the game early and give the Hawks a 9-1 game two victory.
Collier went the distance, allowing one run on six hits and four strike outs in the five inning game.

The Hawks hit the road on Sunday (Mar. 31) to take on Southern Indiana in doubleheader action. The games are slated for noon and 2 p.m.
