2020 (Junior): Appeared in 15 games while making 11 starts. Recorded a total of six hits in 33 at bats with two doubles and one RBI, ended the COVID-shortened season with a batting average of .182.
2019 (Sophomore): Appeared in 45 games while making 42 starts. Recorded a total of 34 hits with four doubles, one homerun, 12 RBIs, and 26 runs scored. Accumulated a .300 on base percentage with nine base on balls and was hit by pitches twice.
2018 (Freshman): Appeared in 47 games while making 46 starts. Accomplished a total of 45 hits in 147 at bats while hitting .306 with five doubles, three triples, and one homerun, Kernich finished with a slugging percentage of .401. Also waled 13 times and was hit by pitches four times. Kernich led the team in runs scored with 35.
Background:
Kernich is a Mount Olive, North Carolina native and is an Accounting and Finance major at Quincy University. Kernich is the daughter of Brian and Peggy and has two sisters Krystina (23), and Rachael (20). Krystina played softball for St. Louis University (2015-2017) and Rachael currently plays at Truman State. Kernich is a graduate of Mount Olive High School where he ended with a 4.3 GPA. Kernich earned four varsity letters in three different sports: softball, basketball, and volleyball at Mount Olive.Â
