Men's Volleyball Falls To Lincoln Memorial On The Road

HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Hawks men's volleyball team traveled to Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday (Mar. 16) afternoon. The Railsplitters defeated QU 3-0 in the non-conference matchup.

Play By Play

1st Set

The Hawks fell behind 6-2 early in the opening set against Lincoln Memorial. QU later responded with back-to-back kills by Brendon Estrada and Jacob Sheets to cut the lead to 10-9.

The Railsplitters scored four of the next six points to extend their lead to 14-11, forcing a QU timeout.

Lincoln Memorial came out of the timeout and took their largest lead of the first set at 21-16. 

The Hawks answered with two kills by Omari Wheeler and a Ben Rachilla service ace to make the score 21-19.

QU could not get any closer as the Railsplitters took the opening set 25-22.

2nd Set

Quincy tried to tie the match at one set, jumping out to a 9-7 lead. The Hawks shared the wealth during this run, with kills by Blake Sprecher, Estrada, Rachilla, and Wheeler.

Lincoln Memorial went on a run of their own to take the lead 11-10 before two errors allowed QU to retake the lead 12-11. 

The Railsplitters scored the next six points to go up 17-12.

The Hawks could not overcome the deficit as they fell 25-17 in the second set.

3rd Set

Facing a sweep, the Hawks used eight Railsplitter errors to take a 15-11 lead midway through the third set.

Lincoln Memorial scored the next four points to tie the score at 15-15.

QU used an Estrada kill to jump ahead before another 4-0 run allowed the Railsplitters to take a 19-17 lead.

Lincoln Memorial scored six of the matches last 10 points to win the third set 25-21 and take a 3-0 victory.
