ST. CHARLES, Mo. -  The Hawks men's volleyball traveled to Lindenwood University on Wednesday night (Feb. 20).  The Lions defeated QU 3-0 in the MIVA matchup. 

Play by Play

1st Set

In the opening set of the match, the Hawks took a 4-3 lead behind a pair of kills by Blake Sprecher.  

Lindenwood tallied five of the next seven points to take a 8-6 lead over QU.  The Hawks rebounded for three straight points to retake the lead at 9-8.  

The Lions scored the set's next four points to lead the Hawks 12-9.  The Lions would use this momentum to outscore the Hawks 13-6 down the stretch and take the opening set 25-15.  Lindenwood committed just two attack errors and finished with 11 kills in the first set. 

2nd Set

Quincy set the tone in the second set by taking a 7-5 lead over Lindenwood.  A 3-0 run by the Lions gave Lindenwood their first lead of the set at 8-7.  

Neither team was able to pull away and the Hawks and Lions were tied at 16-16 late in set number two.  A service error by Lindenwood and a service ace by Adam Rogan gave the Hawks a 18-16 lead.  

Lindenwood rattled off nine of the sets final 11 points to take the second set 25-20.  

3rd Set

Tied at 5-5 in the third set, Lindenwood went on a 4-0 run to take a 9-5 lead.  

The 4-0 run forced the Hawks to call a timeout in order to slow the run.  

Lindenwood continued to pad its lead, extending its lead to 16-9.  The Hawks were unable to respond to the hot start by Lindenwood and dropped the match in straight sets.  Lindenwood hit .737 in the final set of the match, finishing with 15 kills on 19 attacks.  

The Lions defeated QU 25-16 in the third set to take a 3-0 victory.
