QUINCY, Ill. – Quincy University's women's basketball team hosted their last game of 2019 by taking on MacMurray College on Tuesday night (Dec. 17). The Hawks shot over 60% from the three-point line as they scored over one hundred points for the first time since 2014 with a 101-38 victory over the Highlanders.
How It Happened
Quincy jumped on top of the Highlanders from the opening tip. QU opened the game on a 10-0 run before MacMurray got on the board with 6:33 left in the first quarter.
Six different Hawks contributed baskets in the first quarter as QU held a 25-7 lead going into the second quarter.
The Hawks continued to roll before halftime by pushing their lead to thirty just two and a half minutes into quarter number two. A three-pointer by
Jessica Merino brought the score to 37-7 with 7:24 remaining in the first half.
Going into the locker room, the Hawks were firmly in control 55-18.
Dami Adeyinka led all QU scorers with 9 points.
In the second half, the offense continued to roll. Quincy shot a perfect 100% from three-point range making all six attempts. After the third quarter Quincy led 82-30.
The Hawks reached the 100-point mark with less than a minute left in the game.
Marta Rivera knocked in a pair of free throws to make the score 100-36.
Quincy won the game by a final score of 101-38 as five players reached double figures in scoring. Freshman
Marta Rivera led QU with 16 points,
Ella Gobald scored 14,
Alexa Low added 12, and both
Grace Schraufnagel and
Dami Adeyinka contributed 10.
