ROMEOVILLE, IL - The Quincy University women's soccer team fell to the Lewis Flyers Sunday afternoon (Hawktober 6). The Hawks late surge was not enough to overcome the two-goal deficit, falling 2-1.
1st Half
The Flyers got on the board early in the first half, forcing the Hawks to play from behind. Lewis was awarded a corner kick in the 4
th minute and converted to take a 1-0 lead.

The home team kept the pressure on the Quincy defense as play continued. The Flyers tallied three shots and three corners over the next 16 minutes but the Hawks held firm, keeping the deficit at one.

Lauren Crane turned and let a shot rip in the 24
th minute, but it was blocked. This was the Hawks lone shot in the first half.

Lewis found the back of the net again in the 29
th minute, extending their lead to 2-0.

Neither team could get anything going the rest of the half, as that score stood heading into halftime.

2nd Half
The Hawks picked up the pressure in the second half, getting off seven shots and putting four of those on goal.
Lauren Crane and
Sydney Gorman were the first to get offensive chances in the second half.Â

Crane got a shot off in the 52
nd minute but it was saved by Lewis goalkeeper Lucy Clark. Gorman's shot in the 58
th minute was also saved.

The Flyers got their fair share of chances in the second half. Lewis put two shots on goal in the final 12 minutes of the game, but both were brought in by sophomore goalkeeper
Emilee Autry.

The Hawks got on the board in style in the 88
th minute.
Paige Anderson received a ball from
Mo Rooney and hit a laser from over 30 yards out to make the score 2-1.

The lone Hawks goal was too little, too late. The Flyers held on in the final two minutes to seal the win.
