QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy Hawks men's volleyball program split its matches in the Grow the Game Challenge on Sunday (Jan. 20). The Hawks defeated Limestone College 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-19) and fell to Barton College 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 29-27).

1st Match vs Limestone
1st Set
The Hawks fell behind 6-2 early in the opening set against Limestone. QU responded by scoring eight of the next ten points to take a 10-8 lead.
Limestone tied the set at 10-10, ending the Hawks run. The Hawks used a 4-1 run to grab a 14-11 lead.
The Hawks pushed their lead to 21-17 and looked to secure a first set win. A 3-0 run by the Saints brought the score to 21-20.
Quincy took advantage of several service errors to take a 25-23 first set win.
2nd Set
The Hawks used the momentum from the first set to grab a 9-5 lead.
Limestone hit -.125 in the second set, committing seven attack errors. QU took advantage by tallying 13 kills to take the second set 25-19.
3rd Set
The Hawks never trailed in the third set en route to a 3-0 victory over the Saints.
Leading 15-14, the Hawks pulled away with a 3-0 run to push the lead to 18-14. Limestone brought the score to 20-18, trying to send the match to a fourth set.
QU scored five of the next six points to win the set 25-19 and sweep the match.
QU's offense was extremely efficient, finishing with a .414 hitting percentage in the 25-19 set win.
Quincy finished with 16 kills in the set and forced six hitting errors.
2nd Match vs Barton
1st Set
The Hawks struggled in the first set against Barton College in the second match of the day.
Barton took an early 8-3 lead over the Hawks. Barton's largest lead was 21-10 late in the first set.
QU could not overcome the early deficit and fell 25-14 in the first set to Barton.
2nd Set
Quincy tried to tie the match at one set, jumping out to a 7-5 lead.
Barton tied the set at 8-8 before three straight kills gave the Hawks an 11-8 lead.
Omari Wheeler tallied a pair of kills during the 3-0 run.
Barton scored five straight points to take their first lead of the set at 13-11.
The Hawks and Barton were tied at 19-19 during a back and forth set.
Barton scored back to back points to take a 21-19. The Hawks cut the lead to 22-21 after a kill by
Zach Reider. The Bulldogs scored the sets final three points to take a 2-0 lead over QU.
3rd Set
Facing a sweep, the Hawks led the Bulldogs 11-10 in the third set.
Barton scored the next four points to take a 14-11 lead over the Hawks. QU battled back to tie the set at 17-17.
The teams traded the next four points and the score sat at 19-19.
The Hawks held a 24-23 lead in the third set and looked to extend the match to a fourth set. Barton responded with two points to take a 25-24 lead.
QU fought off three match points to extend the match to 27-27.
Barton kept the pressure on the Hawks and took the set 29-27 and swept the match 3-0.
