QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's soccer team won its season opener 1-0 over the Southwest Baptist Bearcats.  The Hawks offense tallied 20 shots in the opener with 10 of those on goal.

Play-by-Play

The Hawks had an early chance to score as Baylee Smith directed a shot on goal but was turned away by the Bearcats goaltender.  

Emilee Autry made four saves for the Hawks through the first 18 minutes of play to keep the score knotted at 0-0.  

The QU offense turned up the intensity for the remainder of the half.  QU finished with seven shots in the final 25 minutes of play but was unable to find the back of the net.  The Hawks did not allow a shot after the four shots on goal in the first 18 minutes of action.

Out of halftime, the Hawks kept up the offensive output.  QU turned out 11 shots through more than 30 minutes of action in the second half.  

The Hawks offense finally found its mark at the 79 minute mark.  Baylee Smith sent a corner kick into the box and found Cassidy Foley.  Foley headed the corner kick into the back of the net and gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead.  

QU's defense continued to hold firm, not allowing a shot on goal for the remainder of the game.

The Hawks held on for the 1-0 win.
