QUINCY, Ill. - The Hawks softball team dropped a doubleheader to the Truman State Bulldogs Saturday (Apr. 28). The Hawks dropped the doubleheader with scores of 7-2 and 6-0.
Play by Play:
Game 1
The Hawks scored a run in the bottom of the first as Megan Sharpshair tripled to right field, scoring Courtney Kernich.
QU added to its lead with a run in the bottom of the second. Kylie Powers led off the inning with a double. With two outs, Katelyn Gratza singled to score Powers and give the Hawks a 2-0 lead.
A three-run home run in the top of the fourth gave the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead.
Truman State added a run in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to 4-2.
A second three-run home run in the top of the seventh gave the Bulldogs a five-run lead over the Hawks.
QU was unable to overcome the deficit, falling 7-2 in game one of the doubleheader.
Game 2
The Hawks offense was held in check the second game of the doubleheader.
QU was limited to just two hits as Truman State won the second game of the day 6-0.
The Bulldogs used three two-run innings in the second, third, and sixth innings to propel them to the win.
