QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's volleyball lost a MIVA matchup to Ball State 3-0 Saturday (Mar. 31). The Hawks lost by scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-16.
Play by Play:
The Hawks and Cardinals sat tied at 6-6 early in the first set. The Cardinals scored seven of the next ten points to take a 13-9 lead. The Cardinals continued to lead until the score read 24-15. The Hawks took the next three points to cut the lead to 24-18. The Hawks could bring the lead no closer, falling to the Cardinals 25-18 in the opening set.
QU trailed Ball State 12-10 before a 4-0 Cardinals run gave Ball State a 16-10 lead. The Hawks were able to cut the lead to four several times but could bring the deficit no closer, falling to the Cardinals 25-18 in the second set.
Ball State opened the third set on a 13-5 run to grab the momentum in the third set. The Hawks cut the lead to 16-13, looking to send the match to a fourth set. The Cardinals finished the set on a 9-3 run to win the set and the match with a 25-16 third set win.
