QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's basketball fell to the University of Southern Indiana 85-53 Saturday afternoon (Feb. 3).
The Screaming Eagles were ranked as high as #10 in the latest D2SIDA Media Poll and came into the contest with an 18-2 record.
The Hawks grabbed a 5-2 lead with 7:20 remaining in the first quarter after a three-pointer by Maddie Spagnola.
QU and Southern Indiana were tied a 7-7 with 5:25 to play in the opening quarter. QU regained the lead after Alexa Low nailed a jumper to put the Hawks up 11-9.
A 9-0 run by the Eagles put USI up 20-9. The Eagles ended the quarter scoring the final four points to take a 26-14 lead.
A 17-2 run by the Eagles in the first 5:38 pushed the USI lead to 43-16.
The Hawks cut the lead to 45-27 with 1:34 remaining in the first half. The Eagles held a 51-27 lead headed into the half.
The Screaming Eagles held their lead for the remainder of the second half and defeated the Hawks 85-53.
Anika Webster led all scorers with 19 points. Alexa Low added 10 points for the Hawks.
QU falls to 8-15, 3-10 in the GLVC. The Hawks return home February 8th to take on Wisconsin Parkside at 5:15 in Pepsi Arena.
