QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's volleyball team defeated the Judson Eagles 3-0 Saturday afternoon (Feb. 3). The Hawks defeated the Eagles 25-13, 25-21, 25-16.
The Hawks immediately took control of the match, grabbing a 12-6 lead in the first set. The Hawks pushed their lead to 23-11 and held complete control in the first set. The Hawks won the opening set 25-13.
QU continued its strong play in the second set, jumping out to a 6-2 lead. Judson was able to take the lead 11-8 midway through the second set. The Hawks trailed 14-11. QU scored eight of the next ten points to take an 18-15 lead.
The Eagles trimmed the Hawks lead to 19-18 in the second set. QU went on a 5-0 run to take a 24-18 lead. The Hawks would take the second set 25-21.
In the third set, the QU offense gave the Hawks a 15-8 lead. The Hawks held this comfortable lead for the remainder of the set and took the third set 25-16.
The Hawks were led by Brady Loos, who finished the match with 12 kills. Zach Reider finished with 11 kills in the match.
Noah Randall tallied 35 assists in the match.
QU won its third straight match to improve to 8-3 on the year. The Hawks are back in action on February 9th against Loyola University-Chicago in Chicago, IL.
