Hawks Tennis Competes Against SLU and McKendree

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's and women's tennis teams competed against St. Louis University and McKendree University this weekend (Feb. 10-11).  The men's team fell to St. Louis University 6-1 and McKendree University 6-3. 

The women's team fell to St. Louis University 7-0 but responded by defeating McKendree 8-1.  

On the first day of the women's competition, the Billikens won all nine matches against the Hawks.  QU responded on the second day of competition.  

Against McKendree, the Hawks won eight of the nine matches.  

In No.1 singles, Sydney Lynch defeated Vivian Amaro 6-1, 6-4.  In No.2 singles, Rebecca McIsaac defeated Tori Lindsey 6-3, 6-4. 

Rita Kanaeva defeated Jess Molinari 6-1, 6-3 in No. 3 singles. 

In No. 4 singles Abby Moore defeated Sahar Guermah 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. 

Anna Konczak defeated Alex Tinnen 6-0, 6-1 and Maria Peterson defeated Megan Molinari 6-0, 6-1.  

The Hawks also swept doubles competition.  McIsaac and Lynch defeated Amaro and Lindsey 8-5.  The team of Moore and Konczak defeated Guremah and Tinnen 8-6.  Kanaeva and Peterson fell to the team of Molinari and Molinari 8-4.  

The men's tennis team fell to St. Louis University Billikens 6-1.  

Daniel Vayser fell to David Ferragut in No.1 Singles.  Erik Weiler fell to John Nogalski and Dane Mechali fell to Oscar Pachon.  In No. 4 singles Ryan McMillan fell to Justin Mogalski.  Jon Claywell fell to Kenji Yanaba in No. 5 singles. 

The Hawks also dropped several close matchups in doubles competition to the Billikens. 

On the second day of competition, QU battled the McKendree Bearcats.  

QU took a pair of singles matches from the Bearcats.  Collin Adams defeated Alberto Soriano 6-3, 7-5 in No. 4 singles.  Wyatt Pauley also defeated Joseph Jones in No. 6 singles 6-4, 7-5.  

The men's tennis team also took a doubles match against the Bearcats.  In No. 2 doubles the team of Adams and Ryan McMillan defeated Johnny Hu and Ethan McCafferty 8-6.  

The men's tennis team is back in action next weekend (Feb. 17) in Davenport, Iowa against St. Ambrose and Wartburg College.
