Women's Soccer Ties 0-0 Against UIS

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -  The Quincy University women's soccer team ended the regular season with a 0-0 draw against the University of Illinois Springfield Wednesday (Oct. 24).  Despite the Hawks continued offense, QU could not best the Prairie Stars.

Play by Play

The Hawks pushed the tempo from the opening kick.  Senior Abby Pulliam nearly put the Hawks ahead in the third minute.  Pulliam drove a shot on goal but was turned away by the Illinois-Springfield goaltender.

The match was quiet until the 12th minute.  Taylor Marz took a shot on the Hawks goal but her shot sailed wide of the net.

QU was awarded a corner kick in the 24th minute and Bailey Smith sent the corner into the box.  The Hawks were unable to score as the ball was cleared from danger.

The Hawks offense tallied three shots in the 28th, 31st and 36th minutes.  However, two of these shots were blocked and one sailed high of the net.

QU and Illinois Springfield went into the half tied 0-0.

At the beginning of the second half, the Hawks earned a corner kick in the 47th minute.

Reigning GLVC Player of the Week, Lauren Crane, tested the UIS goalie but was unsuccessful as Paloma Guijarro made another save to keep the score knotted at 0-0.

QU's offense was relentless throughout the entirety of the second half.  The Hawks finished with 10 shots and three corner kicks.  Despite the opportunities, QU could not best the Illinois Springfield goalie and the teams would be forced to settle the game in overtime.

The Hawks pushed the issue on the offensive end to begin the first overtime period.  Gabby Orlando drove a shot wide of the net in the 91st minute as she attempted to score the game-winner.

QU held the Prairie Stars without a shot in the overtime.  The Hawks finished with two more shots in the period but were unable to score the game-winning goal.

Neither team could break through and score the game-winning goal in the second overtime period and ended the game with a 0-0 draw.
