QUINCY, IL. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team lost to Truman State 3-1 on Tuesday evening (Oct. 2). The Hawks won the first set 26-24 before dropping the next three 12-25, 22-25, 15-25.
Play by Play
1st Set
Quincy recorded the first two points to go ahead 2-0, but Truman State scored the next three.
With the game tied at 7-7,
Sara Rathbun snuck in a tipped kill to give Quincy the edge.
The Bulldogs later regained the lead after four straight points to move in front 13-10. QU called timeout.
The Hawks responded after the timeout. Quincy scored four in a row to regain the lead 15-14.
QU fell behind, but answered the bell late. The Hawks tied the game at 24-24 after a kill from
Stephanie Mizeur. Quincy went ahead 25-24 after a setting error by TSU.
Kaeley Mueller collected the set-winning kill as the Hawks took the first set 26-24.
Set 2
The Bulldogs came out with a sense of urgency in the second set. TSU jumped ahead 9-3 to force a timeout by Quincy.
Truman State continued to control the game as they extended their lead to 16-6. Quincy called its second timeout.
Quincy was not able to chip away at the lead as Truman State won set two 25-12.
Set 3
The Bulldogs got the early advantage in the third set. TSU went ahead 6-3 before Quincy answered.
The Hawks scored four in a row to go up 7-6. Truman State called a timeout.
QU continued to rally after the timeout. The Hawks scored three more to go ahead 10-6.
Truman State roared back with the next six points to pull in front 12-10.
Baylie Stephens recorded a service ace to bring the Hawks back within two points 16-14.
The Hawks made the score to 20-19 after a kill by
Kaeley Mueller. Mueller got another kill two points later to tie the set at 21-21.
Truman State scored the next three to go up 24-21, and went on to win set three 25-22.
Set 4
After the first eight points, both teams were tied 4-4.
With the game still tied 9-9, a blocking error on Truman allowed the Hawks to take the lead 10-9.
Truman came back with three in a row to regain the lead 12-10.
The Bulldogs held their lead from that point on to win the set 25-15 and take the game 3-1.
