LIBERTY, Mo. - A goal in each half gave the Quincy University women's soccer team a 2-0 victory over the William Jewell Cardinals on Friday (Oct. 12).

William Jewell came out of the gates with two shots in the first three minutes of action.
Emilee Autry made a pair of saves to keep the Cardinals off the scoreboard.
In the fifth minute, the Hawks caught a break as a shot by the Cardinals hit the post and QU cleared the ball from the box before the Cardinals could take the lead.
The Cardinals had another opportunity to score with a corner kick in the ninth minute of play. QU held off the fury of offense and kept the score knotted at 0-0.
Quincy mounted a counter attack in the 22nd minute as
Lauren Crane tallied the first shot for the Hawks. She was turned away by the Cardinals goalkeeper and the score stayed tied 0-0.
Another shot on goal was turned away in the 24th minute, this time by the Hawks goalie
Emilee Autry. Autry finished with eight saves, a career high, in the 2-0 win.
QU broke the scoreless tie in the 27th minute.
Lauren Crane was fouled in the box as was rewarded a penalty kick. Crane buried her penalty kick to put the Hawks up 1-0.
The Cardinals tallied three more shots on goal in the first half, Autry made all three saves and the Hawks went into halftime up 1-0.
Quincy had a prime opportunity to score at the beginning of the second half. Junior
Alex Severino scored her first goal of the season to put the Hawks up 2-0 in the 52nd minute.
The Hawks continued the pressure with eight more shots in the half. Despite the offense, QU could not extend its lead.
Emilee Autry was tested twice more in the second half and she made both saves for her sixth shutout of the season as the Hawks held on for a 2-0 win.
