Tritons Pick Up 8-1 Wins Over QU Tennis Teams

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's and women's tennis teams each dropped 8-1 decisions to host Missouri-St. Louis in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Friday (March 31) afternoon in St. Louis.
 
On the men's side, the Hawks (1-10, 1-1 GLVC) picked up a win in doubles play before the 44th-ranked Tritons (5-2, 1-0 GLVC) swept all six singles matches.
 
Juniors Ryan McMillan (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) and Michael Lesko (Columbia, Ill./Gibault Catholic) earned the Hawks' win at the No. 3 doubles position, beating Alberto Maza and Lucas Lobao, 8-6.
 
In the women's match, the Tritons (10-0, 2-0 GLVC) won all three contests in doubles play.
 
Senior Amy Kuhle (Decatur, Ill./St. Teresa) won a tight, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 match over Jennifer Hauer at No. 1 singles to give the Hawks (7-8, 1-1 GLVC) their lone win of the day.
 
Senior Morgan McGinnis (Edwardsville, Ill.) nearly took at set off Patricia Maya at No. 5 singles, but Maya prevailed, 7-5, 6-2.
 
Both teams are in action again on Saturday (April 1). The men will play at Lindenwood-Belleville in nonconference action at 10 a.m. while the women will resume GLVC play at Maryville at 11 a.m.
