The Hawks (4-14) put together a solid defensive effort, piling up eight blocks and holding the Railsplitters (8-15) to a .120 hitting percentage.

In the first set, the Hawks got out to a big lead, 11-5, getting four blocks in that stretch. Lincoln Memorial got it all the way back to 24-23 as the Hawks had three chances at set point before finally putting it away on a kill by junior Anthony Winter (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/St. Edward).

The Hawks took their first lead of Set 2 at 8-7 on a kill by freshman Blake Sprecher (Cross Plains, Wis./Middleton) as part of a 7-1 run that pushed the Hawks ahead 13-8. Junior Thane Fanfulik (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) and sophomore David Siebum (St. Louis, Mo./Vianney) each had a service ace in that stretch, which gave QU the lead for good.

After dropping the third set by a 25-20 margin, the Hawks bounced back in the fourth, never trailing as they closed out with a 25-20 win. The key stretch came as Quincy broke an 8-8 tie with six straight points with Fanfulik serving.
