QUINCY, Ill. -  The Quincy University women's basketball team dropped its GLVC opener to Rockhurst University 68-48 Thursday night (Nov. 30).  

During the opening quarter, the Hawks fell behind as QU was held scoreless for three minutes midway through the quarter.  Rockhurst took advantage, going on a 7-0 run to take a 12-5 lead.  Rockhurst held a 14-12 lead at the end of the opening quarter. 

Quincy would rally in the second quarter, taking an 18-17 lead with 5:40 remaining in the half.  Rockhurst went on a 13-3 run to end the half and took a 30-21 lead into the break.  

QU trimmed the lead to six after an Anika Webster jumper with 6:44 to play in the third quarter.  Rockhurst ended the quarter on a 20-10 run, paced by fast break opportunities and efficient offense during the final six minutes of the third quarter.  

A pair of three-pointers by Jessica Merino brought the score to 55-43 with 8:38 remaining in the game.  

The Quincy Hawks could bring the lead no closer and fell to the Rockhurst Hawks 68-48.  Rockhurst finished the game shooting just over 49% from the field.  

QU could not find its mark from behind the arc, shooting 5-26 from three-point range.  

Anika Webster led the Hawks with 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.  

The Hawks travel to Liberty, Mo. to take on the William Jewell Cardinals in their next GLVC matchup on Saturday (Dec. 2).
