QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's soccer team scored an early goal to beat the University of Southern Indiana 1-0 on the road to pick up their ninth win of the season.

Mary Maloney's (O'Fallon, MO / St. Dominic) feet. Maloney sent the ball to the top of the box to
Mackenzie Rief (Wentzville, MO / St. Dominic).
Rief netted her shot into the bottom right corner for her fourth goal of the season. It was Rief's second goal in as many games.
QU kept up the offensive intensity, tallying three shots over the next nine minutes but were unable to add to the lead.
The Hawks defense kept the USI offense in check, not allowing a shot on goal after the second minute of action.
QU took a 1-0 lead into the half.
Megan Swanson (St. Charles, MO./ St. Dominic) was tested in the 47th minute by Emma Luczkowski from the top of the box. Swanson kept the lead 1-0 with her second save of the game. Swanson was tested again in the 52nd minute on another shot from the top of the box. Swanson again kept the Eagles off the scoreboard.
Swanson made her third save of the half in the 61st minute to keep the one goal lead for the Hawks.
The Hawks had several chances to push the lead to two but were unable to find the back of the net.
In the 88th minute Swanson made her fourth and final save of the half to preserve the 1-0 win.
QU improved to 9-2-0 on the year and 7-1 in the GLVC. The Hawks maintain their lead in the GLVC standings heading into their match with Bellarmine Sunday (Hawktober 8).
