Lady Hawks Win Doubles, Fall to Western Illinois

MACOMB, Ill. - The Quincy University women's tennis team was able to stave off the rain in a match at Western Illinois University on Tuesday, Apr. 19. QU took two of three doubles matches, but WIU won five singles matches for a 5-2 win.

The Lady Hawks (10-10) won a pair of dominating doubles matches 6-0. Elizabeth Kuenzi and Rebecca McIsaac won the top doubles match. Anna Morrissey and Morgan McGinnis finished the doubles point with a number three doubles win.

The two doubles wins claimed the one doubles point for the Lady Hawks which ended the number two doubles match early.

Morgan McGinnis won the number six singles match for the Lady Hawks. McGinnis took set one 6-2 and followed with a 6-1 second set win to claim the match.

Amy Kuhle won the first set of number one singles 6-4. Courtney Lubbers won set two 7-5 and followed with a 6-3 set three win.

Maria Bessmertnaya won the first set in number two singles 7-5. Elizabeth Kuenzi earned a 6-2 win in set two. Bessmertnaya finished with a 6-0 third set win to earn the match win.

The Lady Hawks travel with the QU men to the University of Illinois Springfield on Apr. 25. The matches start at noon.
