Home Runs Propel Hawks to Midweek Sweep of Lincoln

QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University baseball team hit six home runs in a doubleheader sweep of Lincoln University on Tuesday, Mar. 8. QU trailed 7-2 in game one before an offensive explosion in the fourth and fifth inning gave the Hawks a 21-7 win. Game two saw the Hawks fall behind for a half inning before turning the tide for a 12-3 win.

21 runs is the most scored by Quincy University (8-1) since Mar. 6, 2012 in game one of a doubleheader against Arkansas Tech (21-18). The Hawks scored 11 runs in the fourth inning and eight runs in the fifth inning of the seven inning game.

Dominic Miles hit a solo home run to right center field in the first inning. He would later hit a two-run homer to right in the fourth inning. Miles finished 4-for-5 with five RBI and four runs scored. 

Justin Blechle also had two home runs in game one. Blechle had a solo homer to straight away center in the third inning. The left fielder mashed a grand slam to right field in the fourth inning. Blechle was 4-for-4 with seven RBI and three runs scored.

JP Meyer drilled three-run bomb to left field in the fourth inning as part of the 11-run frame. JP Meyer was 2-for-3 with four RBI.

Jake Walters went 4-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. David Hayes was 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored.

The Hawks collected 21 runs on 21 hits including eight extra base hits

Lincoln (1-15) had their five-run fourth inning erased.

Ryan Snyder hammered a two-run missile to left center in the sixth inning of game two. The QU offense scored 12 runs on 12 hits.

Snyder was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. He was a double away from the cycle. Dominic Miles was 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Troy Wehde and Justin Blechle went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Wehde had an RBI.

The Hawks travel to Indianapolis, Ind. on Mar. 11 to play the University of Indianapolis at noon CT. QU will play Saginaw Valley State on Mar. 12 and UIndy again on Mar. 13 this weekend all at Indianapolis.
