Women Sweep McKendree; Men Fall 8-1

BELLEVILLE, Ill. - The Quincy University men's and women's tennis team split with McKendree University on Thursday, March 24th in Belleville, Ill. The QU women won 8-0 in a sweep of the match. The men fell 8-1 to McK.

The Lady Hawks' (9-3) doubles pairings got the ball rolling on Thursday. Elizabeth Kuenzi and Rebecca McIsaac earned an 8-5 win in number one doubles. Morgan McGinnis and Anna Morrissey paired up for an 8-3 second doubles win. Anna Konczak and Amy Kuhle battled through a gritty match to win number three doubles in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-4).

Singles play proved much more dominant for the Lady Hawks. In the only close contest, McIsaac dropped the first set of number three singles, 7-5, but rallied for a 6-3 win in the second set. McIsaac brought home the win to keep the sweep alive with a 10-8 third set.

The QU men (4-6) picked up their lone win in doubles play. Michael Lesko and Wyatt Pauley continued to click on the court with an 8-5 win in number two doubles.

Chris Bueler put together a solid pair of sets in singles play, but fell to Alberto Montalban 6-3, 6-3.

The tennis teams return home to face Bellarmine University tomorrow, March 25th, in a non conference match. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m.
