EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Quincy University baseball team continued to put balls in play and take advantage of the University of Southern Indiana's miscues on Sunday, Mar. 20. Five of QU's eight runs were unearned for USI. The Hawks had 14 hits combined with three errors by the Screaming Eagles. Graham Spraker tossed six innings to earn the win for QU.

The Hawks (12-3) started off the first inning with a Brynn Martinez double. Dominic Miles singled to right sending Martinez to third. David Jacob singled through the right side to score Martinez. After a double play, Ryan Snyder knocked a single through the left side to score Miles.

Graham Spraker (W, 2-0) held USI (11-7) scoreless for the first three innings. Spraker tossed six innings allowing four runs on nine hits with five strikeouts.

After the Hawks scored two runs in the second inning on a throwing error by the shortstop, The Screaming Eagles answered in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Logan Brown and a two-run homer by Buddy Johnson.

Jake Walters crushed a solo home run with two outs in the fifth inning for Quincy's 25th homer of the season.

David Hayes singled through the left side in the sixth. USI's pitcher tried a pick off at first and threw the ball down the line to send Hayes to third base. Brynn Martinez flied out to left field to score Hayes on the sacrifice fly.

Logan Brown knocked in an RBI with a double in the bottom of the sixth to USI within 6-4 of QU.

After an error extended the inning in the top of the ninth, Matt Hilmes doubled in two runs for Quincy to give the Hawks a four-run cushion with three outs to play.

Karl Hirsch, Cole Crawford, and Teddy Rule combined for three straight scoreless innings out of the bullpen for the Hawks. Rule finished the ninth with three straight outs including a strikeout.
