Tennis Stumbles at Saint Louis University

QUINCY, Ill. - Both Quincy University tennis teams lost at Saint Louis University on Sunday (Feb. 7) 7-0. The NCAA Division I SLU men and women were able to sweep all seven points. At the NCAA DI level, doubles are only counted as one point for which ever team wins two of the three matches.

The Billiken women (6-3) won the first and third doubles matches to claim the first point of the match.

Amy Kuhle put together the best scoring set for QU (5-1) against SLU in number one singles play. Kuhle fell 6-3 in the first set and dropped the second set 6-1 to Aspen Cervin.

The Billikens won the final five singles matches.

The QU men (3-2) tested the Billikens (6-1) in doubles play. The duo of Michael Lesko and Wyatt Pauley fell in the second doubles match 6-4. Patrick Kuhle and Ryan McMillan were tied with John Nogalski and Juan Calero in the top doubles match, 4-4, but they did not finish because SLU won the third doubles match to take the point.

The Billikens went on to take all six singles matches to sweep the match.

The Quincy men's and women's tennis teams will meet Saint Ambrose University in Chicago, Ill. to play a neutral site match on Saturday, Feb. 13.
