QUINCY, Ill. — The Quincy Hawks women's soccer team saw its four game winning streak come to a close with an overtime loss to Wisconsin-Parkside (7-5-2, 7-4-1 GLVC).
A relentless first half offensive attack amounted to no goals for the Rangers, who had 13 shots in the first half alone. Junior Megan Swanson (St. Charles, Mo./St. Dominic) made five saves in the half to keep the Rangers scoreless.
The Hawks offense was kept under wraps in the first half and was able to only tally one shot in the first 45 minutes of play. The teams went into the half tied at 0-0.
In the 52nd minute Natalie Quisenberry (St. Louis, Mo./Lafayette) took a shot from 25 yards out and found the back of the net for her 5th goal of the season on an assist from Cassidy Foley (Quincy, Ill./Quincy Notre Dame).
Parkside tried to answer just a minute later on a shot by Ava Miller but Megan Swanson was there to make the save.
Gabby Herrick (St. Louis, Mo./Eureka) then tried to extend the Hawks lead but was turned away by Adrianna Bratel in the 59th minute.
The offensive attack for the Rangers never slowed and they were finally able to tie the score at 1-1 on a goal by Lauren Bialas in the 78th minute. Bialas took a shot from the top of the box and was able to beat Swanson to the high side.
Abby Pulliam (St. Louis, Mo./Eureka) attempted to give the Hawks the lead back in the 82nd minute but Adrianna Bratel made another save to keep the score tied. This would be the final opportunity to score for either team and the Hawks and Rangers would head to overtime.
