Lady Hawks Test Western Illinois, but Fall Short 4-3

MACOMB, Ill. - The Quincy University women's tennis team traveled to Macomb, Ill. to face NCAA Division I Western Illinois University on Sunday, Mar. 22.  NCAA DI plays that the doubles matches count as one point based on who won two of the three matches unlike NCAA DII.  The Lady Hawks won three singles matches and one doubles match, but fell 4-3 to the Leathernecks.

Amy Kuhle and Sydney Lynch played a tight doubles match against Courtney Lubbers and Jenna Wallace.  The match went to a tiebreaker where WIU (2-17) won 7-6 with a 7-5 win in the tiebreaker.  The Lady Hawks (10-2) picked up a doubles win by default in the last doubles match.

Michelle Gass was won a competitive singles match in the fourth spot.  Gass won in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.  

Anna Morrissey also scored a win for the Lady Hawks 6-3, 6-2 over Andriana Johnson in the fifth singles match.

The Lady Hawks won a third singles match by default.

QU travels to Godfrey, Ill. on Friday (Mar. 27) to play Lewis & Clark Community College.  The match is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
